Increasing Wheat Production in Union County, Dec. 11, 1922

Wheat in Union County

(Marshville Home)

The acreage sown with wheat has been greatly increased in this county this year. By rotation with lespedeza or other clovers it is possible to produce good yields. It is said that under some experiments applications of limestone have doubled the yield of wheat. Lands in this county formerly produced big crops of wheat. In 1898 The Home reported the following yields in this township on three farms: G.W. Bailey, 300 bushels; H.G. Green, 317 bushels; and Jas. A. Marsh, 418 bushels.
