News From Southwest Alamance County, Feb. 1, 1923

Southwest Alamance

David Smith died at the home of his son, Albert Smith, in the Oakdale community. He had been in declining health for quite a while. He was a soldier of the Civil War. ?? of old age was the principal cause of his death. He is survived by an aged widow and a large family of children, he being the first to be taken away.

With the schools all shut down and everybody with colds and flu, rainy weather and impassable roads, it is hard to snatch up any news, but we hope now the worst is over. It looks too bad for the children to lose so much of their time. They can’t have the benefits of the schools and their time is going on just the same.
