Snow Predicted for Western N.C. . . . Cold Wave Is Gripping Central States in Spite of Close Proximity of Spring

Chicago, March 19—The entire central area of the country today was in the grasp of a bitter cold wave despite the theoretical proximity of spring.

From the Rocky Mountains eastward and from the far northwest to upper Florida with much of the territory covered by snow temperatures ranging from sub-zero to March records were registered.

Frost was regarded probable in central Florida tomorrow.

Rain the southern states was expected to change to snow in northwest Georgia and West Carolna.
