Negro Officer on Trial for His Life

William W. Green, negro military instructor of Greensboro and for many years a soldier in the United States army, is being tried before Judge Stack in Davidson County Superior Court this week on the charge of committing rape on a young girl of his own race of near Linwood.

The assault is alleged to have occurred while Green was hunting near Linwood and was a guest at the home of the girl’s grandfather, where she lived.
