BOSTIC, R-4, April 16—On last Friday morning our community was saddened when we learned of the death of Mrs. Susie Long, who lived with her daughter, Mrs. Mary Cook of Bridgewater R-1, on Thursday night, April 12th at 11:30.
Mrs. Long was before her marriage Miss Susie Sims. On Jan. 2, 1861 she was married to Mr. William Long. He preceded her to the grave in January, 1894. To this union were born 11 children, seven of whom are left to mourn their loss. Four having preceded their mother to the grave.
Following are the living children: Mrs. Harvie Propes and Mrs. Jeff Houser of Bostic R-4; Mrs. Nancy short of Casar; Mrs. Mary Cook, Bridgewater, R-1; Mrs. John Long, Bridgewater, R-1; Mrs. Oscar Long, Gastonia, and Mr. Palmer Long, Detroit, Michigan. All of whom were present at the funeral except Mrs. Cook who was sick. She also had 39 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. Also two sisters living: Mrs. Catherine McCurry and Mrs. Eliza Whisnant, both of Bostic R-4. These with a host of relatives and friends are left.
Mrs. Long’s death was due to bronchial pneumonia. She was buried at the Golden Valley Methodist church Saturday evening, April 14. She had been a faithful member of this church for more than 40 years. Funeral service conducted by her pastor, Rev. Terrill.
