Miss Bobbitt, Mr. McMullan Secretly Wed April 3, 1923

Popular Young People Were Married Quietly

It has just become rather generally known that Miss Anna Hester Bobbitt, daughter of Mrs. George Fearing, and Mr. Mack O. McMullan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy W. McMullan, slipped away at Easter time and were quietly married at South Mills.

The ceremony was performed on April 3 in the office of the South Mills register of deeds. Mr. McMullan, who is a student at the University of North Carolina, was at home on his Easter vacation. Not wishing to interrupt his year’s study, the young couple decided to keep the wedding quiet until the end of the school session, but a few days ago the news began to leak out and by Monday it rivalled the election as a topic of conversation downtown.

Miss Bobbitt is one of the city’s most beautiful young women, and Mr. McMullan, a member of a brilliant family, runs true to form in brains and energy.
