Virginia Detectives Couldn't Find Luke Spellman in Camden County, May 6, 1923

Fruitless Search in North Carolina

Norfolk Va., May 5—City detectives returned tonight from a fruitless trip to Camden county, North Carolina, in search of Luke Spellman, negro blockader and alleged slayer of Special Officer Allen Gimbert of Princess Anne county. Spellman’s brother at Indiantown, N.C., protested to the officers that he had neither seen nor heard from Luke Spellman since prior to the slaying of officers Gimbert near Virginia Beach.
