Attorney and Member of Legislature Scuffles with Constable, June 2, 1923

R.O. Everett Fined as Result of Fight

Durham, May 31—R.O. Everett, well known attorney and member of the Legislature, and A.M. Maddry, Durham township constable, were fined $2 and costs each in recorder’s court, today on a charge of engaging in an affray. Both defendants entered pleas of not guilty.

According to the evidence, the attorney and constable mixed Wednesday following a session of court in which Everett appeared in a case which Maddry was a witness.
