News from Salisbury Includes Suicide, Illness, June 6, 1923

Salisbury—Tom Stoner, 39, a farmer living near St. Matthews church several miles east of Salisbury, killed himself this morning by blowing his brains out with a shotgun. A case of influenza several months ago had left Mr. Stoner in bad health. He is survived by a family of eight children.

Robin McCanless, 8-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John McCanless, died this afternoon at the home of the parents on West Thomas Street, a victim of spinal meningitis with which he was stricken several days ago. The funeral will be conducted Thursday from the residence.

Miss Margaret Lipe, 14-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G.O. Lipe of Landis, and nice of Mrs. J.C. Deaton of Salisbury, is seriously ill at a local hospital where she was operated on yesterday for appendicitis. Late this evening her condition was reported as growing worse.
