People Have Become God-Forsaken in Modern Times, Says Judge O.A. Allen, June 11, 1923

Judge in Dixie Calls Modern “God-Forsaken”

Asokie, N.C., June 11—We are a God-forsaken people,” said Judge O.A. Allen in his charge to the county grand jury at Winton. Continuing, he said:

“Although the state has set up many agencies for the improvement of society, juvenile courts and other courts have been instituted, institutions for the feeble-minded, for the unfortunate woman, and schools of correction for the young generation, yet there is more crime, and we are getting farther away from the principles of God at all time.”

Judge Allen deplored the tendency of the modern age to want something different.
