HOME DEMONSTRATION CLUB LESSON ON IMPORTANCE OF MILK IN A CHILD'S DIET

Home Demonstration Clubs in North Carolina were an educational program organized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Agricultural Extension Service at N.C. State University, Raleigh, and later N.C. A & T State University in Greensboro. They taught farm women proper nutrition and cooking, better methods for gardening, home canning, sewing, home nursing and improving their communities. The Tomato Clubs for girls taught cultivation and safe home canning procedures of tomatoes, and they were a forerunner of Extension’s 4-H program.
