ST. THOMAS CHURCH, Bath, Oldest Church in North Carolina
Historic Candle Sticks Found
Washington, N.C.—On exhibition in one of the store windows here are two pairs of silver candle sticks placarded “given in St. Thomas Church at Bath in 1734 by the King of England.” These candle sticks were found broken up in a heap of old rubbish and rescued by Mrs. H.W. Carter, who had a silversmith mend them, then polished them herself and they will be re-presented to the church by J.G. Bragaw Jr. of this city.
