600-Mile Trip Without Flat Tire, Car Troubles Makes the Front Page, Sept. 1, 1923

Motors 600 Miles Without Adjustment or Puncture

R.W. McPhilliamy of Vandergrift, Pa., and Mrs. McPhilliamy, with their five-months’-old daughter and Mr. McPhilliamy’s sister, Mrs. Jennie McCullough, motored to this city this week for a two-weeks’ visit to Mr. McPhilliamy’s parents, Police Officer and Mrs. George W. Twiddy on Riverside Drive.

Mr. and Mrs. Twiddy met their visitors in Norfolk and motored home with them. The whole trip from Vandergrift, which is 25 miles east of Pittsburgh, was made, according to Mr. McPhilliamy, without puncture or mishap of any sort. Is speedometer, he says, showed the distance to Elizabeth City to be 610 miles.
