By a perplexing oversight we failed in our last issue to note the death of Mr. G.W. (Little Bud) Barnes, which occurred at his home on Howard’s Creek Wednesday evening, August 29th.
Mr. Barnes had been in very poor health for some time and had taken advantage to almost everything known to medical skill to regain his shattered health, but to no avail. On Monday preceding his death, he visited as a last resort an itinerant physician now located at Banner Elk, but he failed to give him any hope.
“Bud” Barnes was a straight upright citizen, his word always being as good as his bond. He went on in the even tenor of his way and was highly respected by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and one son and one daughter to mourn his departure.
