Kirk Richardson Killed in Rock Quarry Accident, Oct. 3, 1923

Fatal Accident at the Quarry Thursday Befell Young Kirk Richardson

A fatal accident befell a young man, Kirk Richardson, near the Quarry station, at the rock quarry below town last Thursday afternoon. The rock in which they were drilling a hole broke and slid down on him in the report, a large rock half the size of a five-passenger Ford automobile.

The hearse of Ready Undertaking establishment conveyed his body to the home of his parents.

His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Richardson, who now live in the Rock Creek community and formerly in Traphill township. Young Richardson was unmarried, about 23 years old and is said to have been a nice young man.

The burial was at Rock Creek church the next day.

Loyd Richardson of Wilkesboro Rt. 2 and Mrs. Jack Higgins of Rock Creek are brother and sister of the deceased.
