Reidsville Presbyterian Church Memorializes R.P. Richardson, Oct. 1, 1923

Bronze Tablet in Memory of R.P. Richardson

A handsome bronze tablet has been erected in the front lobby of the Reidsville Presbyterian church in memory of the late Robert P. Richardson, who was a charter member, trustee and ruling elder of this church at the time of his death, and who was so largely responsible for the erection of the present church building. At the morning service on Sunday, the pastor, Rev. M. S. Huske, took occasion to pay a fine tribute to the late Mr. Richardson and referred to the memorial as being the voluntary gift of the congregation in appreciation of the life and service of this useful and Godly man. The memorial seems most fitting and appropriate, placed in the modern and handsome church edifice, for which he had so long dreamed and so faithfully labored. The tablet is of excellent workmanship, in thorough keeping with the architecture of the church, and bears the following inscription:

“Erected by the congregation in loving memory of Robert Payne Richardson 1855-1922. Charter member, trustee, elder, whose strength of character, kindly benefactions and lofty ideals made him a prince among men; and whose abiding faith, bounteous liberality and wise leadership made the erection of this church.”
