Dr. Shephardson Impressed with Local Negro Schools, Nov. 9, 1923

Dr. Shepardson Visits Halifax

Dr. Francis W. Shephardson of Chicago, S.L. Smith of Nashville, Tenn., and W.F. Credle were in Halifax county one day this week visiting Rosenwald Schools. Dr. Shephardson is secretary to Julius Rosenwald, who has contributed about $14,000 to the construction of 22 schools erected for negroes in the county during the last six years. Mr. Smith is southern director and Mrs. Credle is State director. They visited 15 schools with Supt. A.E. Akers. They expressed themselves as being favorably impressed with the buildins and furnishing.
