The criminal docket of the November term of court was completed last week and a civil case of J.L. Owen against the Suncrest Lumber Co. for damages was begun on Friday.
Jurors excused for cause last week were: A.H. Sparks, E.T. Duckett, G.W. Coble, L.E. Ensley, A.G. Baldwin. Joe Teague reported “not found.”
Those showing good behavior under former orders were: J.K. Sellers, M.H. King, Lyda Morris, Orville Long, Ed Young, Anna Ray, Jule Buchanan, John Burnett, C.s. Creelman and Deck Smith.
The following cases were nol prossed with leave: Vernie Smith, r.w.l.; Grady Long, two cases a.d.w.; Henry Mills, drunkenness; Verlin Jenkins, damage to railroad property; Josie Sutton, a.d.w.; Henry Mills and frank Carver, a.d.w.; Grady Long, c.c.w.; Reid Ledbetter, drunkenness; Leonard Turpin, forcible trespass; Bob Jenkins, a.d.w.; Will Long, drunkenness; Eu8nise Trull, a.d.w.; Annanias Hightower, l. and r.; Jim Hyatt, driving car while drunk; Norman Leatherwood, l. and r.; Ned Mull, c.c.w.; Monroe West, a.d.w.; F. Der. Rogers, distilling; Sam Gaddis, driving car while drunk; Cephas Sharp, l. and r.
A mistrial resulted in the murder case of Mrs. Jennie Powe and Ethel Caldwell.
S.A. McCollock pleaded guilty of retailing. Judgment continued on payment of cost.
A mistrial resulted in the case of Jessie Curtis for retailing.
Austin Burnett was found not guilty of embezzlement.
A mistrial resulted in the case against Taylor McAbee for larceny and receiving.
Geo. Frady was fined $10 and costs for retailing, to which he pleaded guilty.
J.P. Francis Jr. pleaded guilty of retailing and case was continued on payment of costs.
Waldo McCracken pleaded guilty of retailing and was fined $15 and costs.
Erastus Hannah was found not guilty of retailing.
On a charge of drunkenness Bill Burnett was given 4 months on roads without stripes.
Norman Leatherwood for running gambling house was fined $100 and given two years on roads without stripes. Capias to issue in 10 days if he is found.
Jim Morgan was given 10 months on roads without stripes for retailing. In another case judgment was continued.
Tom Parris was fined $15 and cost for retailing. Carl Sheehan, same fine on same charge.
James Sharp for larceny and receiving was given six months on roads without stripes.
