Edna Spaniola, Mildred Raper, Both 16, Headed for Florida, Dec. 1, 1923

Pretty Young Women Run Away From Home. . . Adventurous Girls Leave Greensboro for Far South—Letters Sent From Gastonia

Greensboro, Nov. 30—Two Greensboro girls, pretty misses of 16, with bobbed hair, who disappeared from here Wednesday night, their parents appealing to the authorities of this and other cities for aid in finding them, are evidently headed south and not desirous of returning home. The mother of one of them, Mrs. E.S. Spaniola, got letters today from her daughter, Edna, posted at High Point and Gastonia, telling her the parents need not look for them back, that they were going on. With Edna Spaniola is Mildred Raper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Raper. The families are next door neighbors and the girls are chums. The Spaniola girl is a pronounced brunette, the Raper girl a blonde. In size they are about the same, five feet three inches.
