Beloved Pastor Leaving Lenoir for Concord, January 12, 1924

New Pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church. . . Rev. L.D. Miller, Pastor of St. Stephens Lutheran Church at Lenoir, Accepts Call

Lenoir, Jan. 12—The Rev. L.D. Miller, pastor of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, here, presented his resignation to the congregation Sunday morning, January 6, in order to accept an urgent call to St. John’s Lutheran Church near Concord. Mr. Miller has been the pastor of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church for five years, and has the respect and affection not only of the members of is own congregation, but also of the people of the community, and there was keen sorrow at the thought of his leaving. He is now President of the local Ministers’ Association, and also of the Catawba County Lutheran Pastors’ Association.

While pastor here, the membership of his congregation has more than doubled, the finances have increased more than 300 per cent, and the church property has been greatly improved, the most recent improvement being the completion of the basement of the church building for Sunday school rooms.

Pastor Miller leaves the congregation here in fine working order. He will enter upon his new work about the first of March.
