Wife Asks Alimony, Husband Disappears

Charlotte, Dec. 28—Following the failure of the Scott Feed company and suit entered by his wife for alimony without divorce, John L. Scott, formerly in the brokerage business here and well known, has disappeared, his present whereabouts being unknown to his business associates or friends.

Mr. Scott left Charlotte a week ago following the announcement of a receivership for the Scott Feed company which he conducted and the reported sale of another business of his, the Scott Commission and Brokerage Company.

The more immediate reason, it is alleged, for his disappearance centers in the suit filed by his wife, Mrs. Mary L. Scott, for alimony without divorce, papers for which are on the records.

With her three children, Mrs. Scott has gone to Fayetteville to be with relatives, leaving her affairs here in charge of her attorneys.

Mrs. Scott and her three children, Mary Harding, 12, Cora Louise, 10, and Willie Amelia Scott, nine years old, have been for some time at the home of Mrs. Scott’s sister, Mrs. J.H. Colvin Jr., at Fayetteville.
