Former Elon College Student Marries W.L. Ward Jr., Jan. 9, 1924

Former Student Weds Worthville Merchant. . . Miss Alese Millikan Becomes Bride of W.L. Ward Jr.—Ceremony Solemnized at High Point, N.C.

A marriage that comes as quite a surprise to her friends is that of Miss Alese Millikan and W.L. Ward Jr., the latter of Worthville, which was solemnized Sunday evening at 7 o’clock at the home of Rev. Mr. Sykes, pastor of the Friends church of High Point.

The young people decided to be married very suddenly, for the bride left Greensboro presumably with the object of spending the week-end in Randleman with her family. They motored to High Point, telephoned their friends and relatives at Randleman their intentions and were wed. They were attended by Miss Bill Millikan, sister of the bride; Miss Ruth Coltrane and Cletus Brookshire, all of Randleman.

After the ceremony they came to Greensboro where they will be for the rest of the week. Mrs. Ward is office manager of the Carolina Motor club and will continue in this capacity until a substitute can be supplied. After leaving here the bride and groom will live for a while at Asheboro.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Ethel Millikan of Randleman. She has been office manager for the Motor club for the past year and has proven an efficient business woman. She possesses a very congenial disposition and has many friends here.

Mr. Ward is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Ward of Asheboro and is a prominent merchant of Worthville, near Asheboro in Randolph county.
