Princeton, N.J., Jan. 13—Harald B. Rees of Asheville, N.C., a member of the Princeton freshman hockey team, died in the McCosh infirmary today from an injury which he received yesterday when he was struck in the head by a hockey stick during a game between the Princeton freshmen and a team representing the New York branch of the Canadian Royal bank.
Rees was struck in the temple in a scrimmage for the puck and fell unconscious. He recovered almost immediately but was taken to the infirmary as a precaution. An examination showed there was no skull fracture.
According to physicians at the infirmary, Rees spent a comfortable night but developed disturbing conditions early today. After an examination by a specialist an operation was decided upon and performed early today. He died several hours later. It is thought death was due to a blood clot on the brain.
