In the Box Above the Banner on The Herald, Jan. 11, 1924

A good friend of The Herald says the paper is radical—too radical. When asked for a definition of radicalism, this good friend was stumped. He couldn’t point out one single article or editorial that he thought was what the general public believes to be radical. Finally he said it was on account of so much being printed about the textile workers. He was asked if they, as a big portion of the state’s citizenship, had received a “fair shake” with the balance of the citizens. Being an honest man there was but one reply he could make, and that was to the effect that all other groups had received more consideration than had the textile workers. He is a man of influence, of power, and he always thought he was broad-minded. Yet he admits the truth of what The Herald says, and at the same time says The Herald is radical because it tells the truth. We’re paying for that friend, and think he will come around O.K. some day in the future.
