Nadle Committed Suicide Rather Than Pay Alimony, Feb. 5, 1924

Demand for Alimony Results in Suicide. . . Chicago Man Shoots Himself When Wife Phones Court Order

Chicago, Feb. 5—Edward Nadle, 40, killed himself today when his wife telephoned to tell him that the Court had ordered his immediate appearance for refusing to pay her $2,000 alimony allowed under a decree of separate maintenance.

“All they’ll get is my dead body,” Nadle shouted through the telephone in answer to his wife.

A shot was heard over the phone, and the Judge stopped proceedings while Mrs. Nadle went home to investigate. She found her husband dead.
