Six Decide to Buy Quart of Whiskey, All End in Jail, May 4, 1924

Six Negroes and Auto Are Seized. . . One Quart of Whiskey for Half Dozen Men Spelled Trouble Last Night

One quart of liquor for six negroes increased the court docket by six defendants Saturday night when the half-dozen were arrested while joy riding in Henry’s alley, Hayti. They are all in jail and the car in the possession of police.

The negroes, Will Britt, Owen Trice, Will Craddock, John Love, Will Nunn, and Exline Williams, “pitched in” and purchased one quart of the trouble-making brew. They were spied by officers Knight and Woods and promptly jailed. Unable to give bond, the men will probably remain behind the bars until Monday morning’s court.
