Cotton Co-ops Elect Directors, Including Dr. G.M. Pate for Robeson County, June 16, 1924

Cotton Co-ops Elect Directors. . . Dr. G.M. Pate is Re-elected for the District Composed of Robeson County.

Raleigh, June 13—Reports from the poll holders committees of the 10 districts in North Carolina reaching the headquarters of the North Carolina Cotton Growers Cooperative association, announce the election of the following directors of the association for the ensuing year:

First district, composed of Warren, Halifax, Northampton, Bertie, Martin, Chowan and Hertford counties, W.A. Pierce, Weldon.

Second district, composed of Nash and Edgecombe counties, O.K. Taylor, Whitackers.

Third district, composed of Onslow, Jones, Pitt, Craven, Beaufort, Palmico, Washington and Carteret, John T. Thorne, Farmville.

Fourth district, composed of Duplin, Wayne, Lenoir and Greene, E.A. Stevens, Goldsboro.

Fifth district, composed of Johnston and Wilson counties, J.P. Parker, Smithfield.

Sixth district, composed of Lee, Harnett, Wake, franklin, Chatham and Durham, Dr. B.W. Kilgore, Raleigh.

Seventh District, composed of Columbus, Bladen, Cumberland, Sampson and Pender, R.W. Christian, Manchester.

Eighth district, composed of Robeson county, Dr. G.M. Pate, Rowland.

Ninth district, composed of Richmond, Moore, Scotland, Hoke and Montgomery, A. McEachern, Raeford.

Tenth district, composed of Cleveland, Cabarrus, Rutherford, Gaston, Union, Iredell, Rowan, Stanly, Mecklenburg and Anson, L.D. Robinson.

W.A. Pierce, E.A. Stevens, R.W. Christian, Dr. G.M. Pate, A. McEachern and L.D. Robinson served as directors last year and were re-elected.

The board of directors is composed of strong men, all cotton growers as well as successful business men and bankers, and the membership of the association is assured of successful management. The new board will meet on June 16 for organization and such other business as may come before them.

In the second district, W.W. Eagles, who has served the association as director for the past year, asked that on account of his health his name be taken from the ticket after he had been nominated. In the election, however, quite a number of complimentary votes were given Mr. Eagles by the membership, showing their confidence in him.
