Mrs. Ivie Entertains Philathea Class

On last Friday night, Mrs. B.F. Ivie entertained the Philathea Class of the First Baptist church, honoring Mrs. W.F. Whitt and Mrs. Frank Hedrick who have been members for the past year or more and are leaving town.

There were 38 members present and four visitors, Mrs. A.T. Hopper, Mrs. B.V. Hedrick, Mrs. D.F. King Sr., and Miss minnie Lashley.

The rooms were lovely with their variety of beautiful spring flowers and handsome vases and baskets placed artistically throughout the rooms. They presented a scene of loveliness appropriate for this happy occasion.

During the evening a flower contest was enjoyed in which Mrs. A.T. Hopper received a first prize and Mrs. Frank Hedrick second prize. The pleasure of the evening was added to by each member of the class giving a recitation, reading or solos. To the guests of honor were given prizes.

At the conclusion of the games, the hostess served strawberry shortcake and fruit punch.
