Mayor Cathey Asks for Silence in Asheville, Sept. 24, 1924

To Make Asheville a Noiseless City

Asheville, Sept. 23—The session of the North Carolina legislature convening in January will be asked to pass a special act prohibiting the sounding of horns, whistles, bells or other noise-making devices on automobiles and trucks in the city of Asheville. This was announced today by Major Cathey who said that the movement has the support of the Optimists and Lions Clubs and also of the city commissioners.
