Briefs from Tryon, Route 1, in the Polk County News Nov. 6, 1924

Tryon Route 1

Did we vote our convictions at the Polls? Did we answer the appeal to register our Americanism and our appreciation of the rights and duties of Christian citizenship? Did we “get out the Christian vote”? If so, surely we can say as the Psalmist of old, “Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord.”

Many of our folks attended the Spartanburg Fair. The exhibits were simply grand, but the Fake wasn’t worth while, and shouldn’t be allowed at the county fairs.

Those who attended Stearns Hi Monday night said it was splendid. [The high school put on a play.]

Those who attended the Bible Picture Movie at Tryon Thursday night enjoyed it immensely. Would that we could have more such, and we would feel that our young people are participating in pleasures worth while

The Misses Hague were among the visitors of the Misses Hamilton Sunday.

Mr. E.B. Edwards visited Mr. and Mrs. James Egerton Sunday afternoon.

Have you taken a spin over to the Green River dam lately? If you have not, you can now enjoy the handiwork of both God and man combined. You can stand on the wonderful structure of man and behold one of North Carolina’s grand scenes on display with her gorgeous autumn robe and magnificent rocks and rushing water below, which will soon be no more as it’s soon to go under water.
