St. Paul, Nov. 14—Mr. and Mrs. Carl H. Howard are receiving the congratulations of their numerous friends upon the arrival of a fine boy on Friday last week. According to “Madam Rumor,” the little chap will be named Adolphus Johnson, the first name being in honor of his uncle, Mr. A.E. Howard. Mr. and Mrs. Howard, who resided near town, moved recently to the Bennett home on Broad street, where they are at home to their many friends. This residence some few weeks ago was purchased by Mr. Patt Holder.

Mrs. J.F. Nash, who has been a patient several days in Pittman hospital, Fayetteville, underwent an operation last Saturday and is getting on as nicely as can be expected. Mrs. Nash is very pleasantly remembered by friends over the county as iss Agnes Floyd of Fairmont. Her mother-in-law, Mrs. Nash of Sumpter, S.C., arrived a few days prior to her leaving and with the assistance of a servant will have supervision of the household duties for the doctor and the kiddies during Mrs. Nash’s illness. Having visited in St. Paul frequently Mrs. Nash Sr. is warmly welcomed by numerous friends, both young and old.

Sunday morning found Mrs. Maggie Oliver again in town, she having just returned from a visit to Canada and Montreat, where she has been since early summer. Mrs. Oliver, who is a daughter of the late Rev. Joseph Evans, has scores of relatives and friends in Canada, where in younger days she was resident. While I St. Paul she will make her headquarters I the home of her stepmother, Mrs. Sallie Evans, Fayetteville street.

Issues Sara and Elizabeth McGeachy, who are this season’s members of the freshman class at Flora Macdonald college, Red Springs, spent the week-end with their pareitns, Mr. and Mrs. L.A. McGeachy.

Mrs. Elias Johnson and little son, James William, of Lincolnton, arrived Saturday for a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Butler and family, she being formerly Miss Berta Butler of our town.

Among the sick during the past few days were little Miss Sarah Grantham, Miss Bessie Johnson and little Miss Adeline Poole daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Ivey T. Poole. All are convalescent again. The reporter is especially glad to be back on the job following a brief absence.

Miss Helen McGeachy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. McGeachy, was home last week-end, returning today to Flora Macdonald to resume her studies.

Mrs. Annie Harris, who several weeks previously accepted a position in the drygoods department of L.S. Britt and Co. store, resolved last week on account of the health of her father, Mr. R.A. Melvin who needed her assistance in his business at Buie. Mrs. Harris as a former resident was favorably liked in St. Paul and it was with regret her resignation was tendered.

Mrs. J.T. Page and little son have returned from a pleasant visit among relatives at Hoffman. Miss Elizabeth Hartman of Flora Macdonald college spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. Sallie Hartman, Armfield street, to the delight of friends.

Guests in the home of Miss Neil Rice were Misses Ella Harper and Smith, who in company with a friend motored over from Tarboro for a brief while, Miss Harper remaining over for the week-end while Miss Smith visited in Red Springs.

Mr. and Mrs. Simon Leviton and little daughter, Evelyn Ruth, spent Sunday in the home of the former’s sister, Mrs. Joe Sugar. Mr. and Mrs. Leviton recently oved to Red Springs, where he has charge of a dry goods store previously opened by Mr. Sugar, merchant here.

Mr. John D. McNeill of Rennert was among the visitors in town Saturday afternoon.

Miss Florabel McGoogan returned Tuesday to Flora Macdonald following a brief visit to home folks. Her mother, Mrs. George McGoogan, who since her return from Pittman hospital, Fayetteville, where she recently underwent an operation for appendicitis, has been at the home of her mother-in-law, Mrs. D.A. McGoogan, where she is nicely improving.

Mrs. Sallie Evans and sister, Miss Mary McNeill, spent last Wednesday in Fayetteville.

Mrs. S.A. Donahoe of Onley, Va., arrived Sunday night for a visit to her daughter, Mrs. I.T. Poole.

Messrs. J.C. Lentz and Francis Northrop of the local bank attended the delightful luncheon of the Kiwanis club given at the Lorraine hotel in Lumberton today in honor of Robeson county bankers and farmers.
