Will Tyner Innocent in Murder of J.H. Honeycutt, Dec. 6, 1924

Wayne Negro Cleared of Murder Accusation. . . He had Been Held in Wayne County Jail Since Last June

Goldsboro, Dec. 5—“I know nothing about it and am mighty glad to get out of it,” was the statement of Will Tyner yesterday after he was declared not guilty of the murder of J.H. Honeycutt, Fork township farmer, several months ago. The negro walked out of the Wayne County Court house a free man and breathing the air of freedom for the first time since last June. From the beginning, the negro said that he knew nothing of the murder and stuck to his assertion, even when four or five men shook the jail door shouting, “We want Tyner unless he tells the truth about the killing.” He refused to admit complicity.
