Marshall Needs Tobacco Warehouse, Says Editor, Feb. 6, 1925

Marshall Should Have Tobacco Warehouse

It has been suggested by a citizen of Marshall that Marshall should have a tobacco warehouse. We are not sufficiently familiar with the growing and marketing of tobacco to say just what would be required to make a warehouse pay, but, as others are talking the need, we are glad to help them pass the word along. So much tobacco is shipped from Marshall under the present conditions, who knows what would happen if a tobacco warehouse was built?

As it is, quite a deal of tobacco raised in Madison and adjoining counties is taken through the country to Tennessee, which would be brought to Marshall if there was a warehouse here. A great deal would be saved in railroad fare and gasoline if the people of Madison County could come to Marshall to market their tobacco instead of taking it to Tennessee and travelling back and forth to attend to selling it. Why not let the business men of Marshall come together and put up a warehouse before another season? Think of the business this would bring to Marshall.
