Mrs. Rebecca Wood, 80, Dies of Cancer, April 9, 1925

Mrs. Rebecca Wood Dead

The Providence community was saddened Sunday with the death of Mrs. Rebecca Wood, which occurred Sunday morning at 7:30 o’clock. The death was no surprise as she had been seriously ill for the past month. She died from a cancer and other complicated diseases.

Mrs. Wood, before her marriage to Frank Smith, was a Kennedy, and she later married Mr. Wood, both of which preceded her to the grave several years ago. She was 80 years of age. She leaves four brothers and other relatives to mourn her loss. The brothers are as follows: John and Hugh Kennedy of Henrietta, N.C., Dick Kennedy of Lincolnton, N.C., and Pearl Kennedy of this community, whom she has made her home with for a number of years. Funeral services were held at Providence Monday afternoon by Rev. C.C. Jeney, the pastor at ?? church
