North Carolinians Raising Funds for Widows of Mine Disaster, June 9, 1925

The people of North Carolina respond nobly to a needy call. Just after the mine disaster, Governor McLean asked for $35,000 to be raised for the relief of the families of the miners who live in one of the state’s worst disasters. Already one-half of the amount asked for is in hand. Various churches, Sunday schools and individuals have made contributions and others will be made within a few days. Judge F.H. Brooks is a chairman for Smithfield and will be glad to send your contribution.
