Dean Walker's Tribute of Mr. Woodhouse, Aug. 8, 1925

Dean Walker Pays Tribute to Woodhouse

Poplar Branch, Aug. 8—N.W. Walker, dean of the School of Education at the University of North Carolina and director of the University Summer School, left this morning after visiting his mother, Mrs. J.W. Walker. With Mr. Walker were two of his son, Julian and N.W. Walker Jr. Mr. Walker was among the large number of visitors at the funeral of D.W. Woodhouse yesterday.

“Mr. Woodhouse stood for things that make for progress,” Mr. Walker said, “and he has been a great blessing to this section. It was in his store that I found my first job and I always made it a point to go in and see him whenever I came to Poplar Branch. I was in the store stalking to him Thursday morning. I could tell that his health was poor but his death was shock to me as it was to his many friends in Camden and Pasquotank counties as well as in this community and county.”
