George Earnhardt Gets 6 Months on Roads For Cursing Woman, Aug. 15, 1925

Charlotte “Masher” Draws Road Term. . . Earnhardt Sentenced to Six Months for Advances to Young Women—Takes Appeal

Charlotte, Aug. 14—Charlotte “mashers” will fare badly when brought into city court, Judge Currie intimated Friday morning when he sentenced George Earnhardt to six months on the county roads for alleged remarks addressed to Mrs. W.H. Grantham, 20, pretty Charlotte young woman.

Mrs. Grantham told the court that as she was on her way home Wednesday evening she was accosted by Earnhardt, who drove up to the curb in an automobile and that [when] she continued on her way he cursed her.

She reported the incident to her husband who later had a fight with Earnhardt over the incident, Grantham getting the worst of the encounter.

Earnhardt appealed the case and was released under $400 bond.
