Widespread complaint has been heard on all sides lately about the telephone service in this city. The condition has become so acute that a resolution was adopted at the last meeting of the Kiwanis Club, asking the secretary to take up the matter with the local manager. Mr. Hooker has been striving manfully to increase the efficiency of the service, and the public does not attach the blame to him. However, it is the company that is responsible, according to general opinion.
While it is understood that new improvements are being added as rapidly as possible, the complaints are more against the service the operators are giving, rather than lack of facilities of other character. Whatever the cause, there is complaint from many quarters at the service rendered, many business men saying that they cannot get connections as quickly as desired—and sometimes not at all.
Forest City is paying the price and is entitled to first-class service, and it is up to the Piedmont Company to give it.
