Fair Bluff—The funeral services of Mrs. J.P. Waddell Sr., whose death occurred Wednesday morning following a long illness, were held at the Methodist Church Friday afternoon, Oct. 2, conducted by Rev. T.A. Chaffin, assisted by Rev. Thomas Grant of the Chestnut Street Methodist Church, Lumberton.
The services were very impressive and largely attended. The Methodist choir rendered beautiful selections both at the church and at the grave.
Because of the love, attraction and influence she had for the young life of the community, school was dismissed and the children attended in a body.
The floral designs were numerous and very handsome, notable among them being those from the Daughters of the Confederacy and Eastern Star.
Mrs. Waddell was a consecrated Christian, active in all church and civic activities until her health failed nearly four years ago. Since then she has been an invalid, she was a benediction to all those that came in her presence and never had lived in this community a woman who was more beloved, honored and whose genial nature and calmness of manner commanded more friends.
She is survived by her husband J.P. Waddell Sr., four sons, J.P. Waddell Jr., Fair Bluff; Jennings Waddell, Fair Bluff, Dr. S.A. Waddell, Lumberton, R.B. WLaddell, Chester, S.C.; and one daughter, Mrs. Gertie Floyd, Fair Bluff.
