Congressman’s Car Skids, Turns Over. . . Representative McKeon of Oklahoma and Four others in Accident Near Charlotte

Charlotte, Nov. 14—Thomas D. McKeown, representative in Congress from the fourth Oklahoma district, and four other persons narrowly escaped severe injury today when a closed automobile driven by the congressman skidded and overturned on a highway seven miles from Charlotte. Mr. and Mrs. McKeown and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Royster, of Bessemer City, the latter a sister of Mrs. McKeown, were injured but none seriously. Two children of Mr. and Mrs. “Royster escaped without a scratch, it was said. The injured were taken by persons living in the neighborhood to Belmont, a nearby town, where first aid was rendered, after which they returned to the Royster home at Bessemer City. Mrs. Royster, the most seriously injured, had her collar bone fractured and received lacerations. The congressman was cut in several places by broken glass, as was Mr. Royster.
