Asheville, June 18—Belief that E.F. Staley, whose body was found last Sunday on the summit of Overlook Mountain went there for the specific purpose of committing suicide was materially strengthened Thursday afternoon by the finding near the scene of a quantity of poison. Police officials attach significance to the discovery of a metal container of sodium cyanide as an opener previously had been found near the man’s body.
The substance was turned over to chief of police Messer today and an analysis by the city bacteriologist Stockinger revealed that the ingredients are of a poisonous nature.
