Elizabeth City Reducing Charges for Electricity, Oct. 8,1926

To Reduce Charges on Domestic Electricity

City officials have announced a reduction in the price of electric current for domestic purposes, except lighting, to take place November 1. The reduction is from the present rate of 5 cent per kilowatt to 3.5 cents, with an additional discount of 10 per cent for cash by the 5th of the succeeding month.

The reduction, while dispensing with any profit, is made, city officials say, to encourage the use of electricity for cooking and heating purposes.
