Two Rural Homes Destroyed by Fire…Home of Bynum C. Price Burned Saturday; M.G. Wheatley Home Burned

Two fires resulting in heavy losses occurred in the county during the week-end. The home of Bynum C. Price, prominent orchardist of the Brush Mountain section near Pores Knob, was burned Saturday morning about 11 o’clock. The large home and all the contents, including furniture and most of the family’s personal effects, went up in flames. Mrs. Price and son were the only members of the family at home at the time. The loss was partly covered by insurance.

The home of N.G. Wheatley, located two miles from Mountain View on the Dehart Road, was burned between 2 and 3 a.m. Sunday morning. The home and the well house and all furnishings were destroyed. Mr. and Mrs. Wheatley were away from home during the night, the house being occupied by three sons, who escaped, but were unable to extinguish the fire. The loss was protected by insurance.
