Mr. L.J. Baker of Palmyra was in town this morning on business.
Miss Ethel Madry returned yesterday from a visit to
Robersonville.
Mr. Josh Roberson returned last night from a week’s stay at
Virginia Beach.
Messrs. N.A. Riddick and H.T. Clark motored to Goldsboro
yesterday and returned late ladt night.
Report from Virginia Beach gives the information that Mrs.
Joe Cotton’s baby is improving.
Messrs. A. Paul Kitchin and Stuart Smith left for Halifax
this morning to attend professional business.
Mr. R.L. Hardy was called to Halifax this morning to testify
in a forgery case.
Mr. J.F. Bozeman of Heathsfield has taken a position with
R.C. Josey and Company.
Mr. Charlie Steptoe left this morning for Seagull on a visit
for a few days with relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Bell and Mr. Eugene Whitehead returned
last night from Virginia Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. P.Q. Bryan of Moultry, Ga., arrived last night
on a visit to their parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Bryan.
Mr. Herbert Johnson and wife and little Miss Lethia,
accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. John Lewis motored to Seven Springs this morning.
Judge Bond opened the August term of Superior Court, the
first three days being occupied with criminal cases and the civil docket will
be taken up.
The freight train from Kinston to Weldon ran off the track
at Hobgood last night and Captain Barr’s engine was required to pull it back on
the track.
Mr. Ray Boyette, accompanied by Messrs. Macon Hoggard and
Johnny Tillery, will leave today in his Packard for Philadelphia and New York,
to be gone about 10 days.
