Forest Smiley, William Peacock, Nick Frances Have Died, Nov. 8, 1919

Mr. Forest H. Smiley

Mr. Forest H. Smiley, aged 32 years, died at Mt. Gregor, New York, last Monday where he has been for treatment. His remains were brought to Rocky Mount yesterday for interment. He leaves a wife, father, mother and three sisters and four brothers. He was a member for a Baptist church and the funeral was conducted by Rev. Mr. Poole.

The deceased was a brave soldier and saw service on the border and was discharged on account of physical disability.

Prominent Odd Fellow Dies

Mr. William A. Peacock, a prominent Odd Fellow of Goldsboro, will be buried tomorrow afternoon in that city. He gave the orphanage site and made many other bequests to the Order. He was 88 years of age and leaves three children and wife who is the sister of Mrs. Job Hadley. A number of prominent Odd Fellows will attend from this city.

Nick Frances of Lucama

Mr. Nick Frances of Lucama, aged 65, died yesterday at 11 a.m., and funeral was held this afternoon at 2 o’clock and the interment made in Thomas Cemetery near here. He was a very active member of the Free Will Baptist Church and was highly esteemed by all. He came to Lucama from Halifax county several years ago. He leaves a host of friends here and in Halifax county.
