Town Ordinance Passed
by Board of Commissioners at Recent Meeting
Whereas, travelling carnivals and
combination shows exhibiting in the Town of Farmville are hereby declared a
nuisance to the citizens of said town:
Therefore, Be it ordained by the
Board of Commissioners of the Town of Farmville:
Sec. 1. That it shall be unlawful
for any person, firm or corporation to exhibit within the corporate limits of
said town, any carnival or combination shows, or any part of any carnival or
combination show. Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of
this ordinance shall be subject of a penalty of $50. Each and every act of
exhibition shall constitute a new and separate offense subject to the penalty
herein prescribed.
Sec. 2. That is shall be unlawful for
any stock company, shows or minstrels exhibiting under tents to show within the
Town of Farmville for a longer period than two days and nights from the erecting
of the tents of the shows herein mentioned. If any person, firm or corporation
shall violate any provision of this act, they shall be subject to the penalty
of $50, and each exhibition permitted after the expiration of the time herein
set out shall constitute a new and separate offense subject to the penalty
herein prescribed.
Done this the 16th day
of April, 1920.
This act shall be in full force
and effect from and after the 26th day of April, 1920.
