A hare-raising incident occurred at the home of R.L. Simmons, 408 West Fifth street, Friday night when a club was formed for the development and improvement of the rabbit industry in and around Charlotte.
Mr. Simmons, acting as chairman, called the meeting together. It was decided at the meeting to name the association the Charlotte Rabbit Association, and the following officers were elected: Claude M. Fulbright, president; L.L. Hackney, vice-president; R.F. Boyd, secretary and treasurer; R.J. Barber, J.Y. Martin and J.M. Woodsides, directors.
It was decided that the association take steps to affiliate with the National Breeders and Fanciers’ Association of America. The entrance fee to the association was placed at $1. Annual dues are to be decided upon at the next meeting of the association, which will be held with the secretary and treasurer, 902 North Pine street, June 2.
Those present at Friday night’s meeting were R.P. York, F.G. Martin, J.M. Woodsides, W.S. Blanton, L.L. Hackney, W.C. Overcash, W.L. Green, R.J. Barber, Claude Fulbright, R.F. Boyd and R.L. Simmons.
