Final Arguments Heard in W.A. Frye's Suit for Damages After Loss of Son, May 7, 1921

Final Argument in Frye Case Finished

Final argument in the suit of W.A. Frye against the Southern Public Utilities Company and the Standard Ice & Fuel company for the death of his young son, Percy Frye on North Tryon street in June, 1919, was made Saturday morning and the jury was expected to get the case about 2:30 o’clock, if Judge Lane delivers his charge before noon adjournment. The case has been on since Wednesday.

E.T. Cansler Sr. and D.B. Smith are attorneys for the plaintiff while J.A. Jones and Edgar W. Pharr are attorneys for the Standard Ice & Fuel Company. The plaintiff in the suit is asking $25,000 damages because his son, a minor, was killed when he jumped off an ice wagon he was riding on and was hit by a passing street car, the allegation being that the operators of the wagon and the street car contributed to his death.
