Millers Chapel

Children’s Day exercises were held at Millers Chapel Sunday, July 18th, and was the largest attended meeting of its kind in the country. The day was begun with Sunday School where a campaign was on to secure new members. In the junior class there were 30 visiting members and $20 was collected.

The morning service was begun at 12 o’clock, music was rendered by the Henderson Grove Baptist Church choir. Dr. Blake then delivered a very strong sermon to a packed house. A collection of $17 was taken.

The evening session opened at 3 p.m. Little Miss Cyphese Lock, age 7, conducted the entire program. Miss Johnsie Locke played the march while a hundred children joined in the processional and rendered an excellent program. Music in the afternoon was rendered by the junior choir, after which a collection of $12 was raised.

The night program was as follows: Music by Mt. Zion Baptist choir, Prayer by Estelle Thompson. After the superintendent made the opening remarks, the juniors rendered a full and effective program. There were 20 students who had attended college on the program. Some of the musical numbers were as follows: Chorus by the Palmer Institute students; quartette by the Livingstone students; Trio from Scotia; duet from A. & T. A contribution was taken for the interest of the Sunday School. A free picnic announced for the 6th of August.

We were then dismissed by the pastor, Dr. Blake.
