Mr. W.J. Whitaker left Monday for a month’s vacation in Asheville.
Miss Eva Peel returned Sunday night from Chapel Hill where she attended the six weeks summer school at the University.
Mrs. J.G. Staton left yesterday for Sewanee, Tenn.
Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Mizelle and baby of Tarboro were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Harrison Sunday.
Mrs. W.H. Harrell has returned from Chapel Hill where she attended the Summer School of the University.
Mr. Jack Hunter left Friday by automobile for Black Mountain where she will attend a houseparty.
Miss Eva Lucas of Lucama returns to her home today after visiting Miss Truceda Rose and Mrs. Z. Hardy Rose at the Atlantic Hotel for several days.
Mr. J.B. Taylor of Raleigh is here this week in the interest of the State Highway Commission.
Mr. Herbert Sloman representing Isaac Hamburger and Sons f Baltimore is at Harrison Bros. This week conducting a clothing display.
Mr. and Mrs. M.B. Dawes and Mrs. Rogerson of Richmond are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Rogerson.
Dr. Joseph H. Saunders has moved his office to the building on Main Street just below Dr. Knight’s office and opposite Wheeler Martin’s law offices. He has had the building renovated and it is now in fine shape. “Doc” looks quite at home in his new quarters. HIs telephone number is 260.
Mr. B.S. Courtney will begin shortly work on his new residence to be erected on the lot purchased from Dr. J.D. Biggs adjoining the Graded School building.
Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Fulghum and children of Wilson are visiting Dr. and Mrs. P.B. Cone.
Dr. J.D. Biggs is attending the Peanut Growers Exchange meeting in Suffolk this week.
Misses Bessie Page and Carrie Dell White are spending some time at Wrightsville Beach.
Mr. Robert Bogart of Washington spent Sunday in town.
The Enterprise correspondents take this opportunity to thank both Messrs. Charles Rogerson and Joseph L. Holiday for some very nice watermelons donated to a mighty good cause last week.
Mr. T.F. Harrison left yesterday for New York and Philadelphia where he will spend two weeks making purchases for the fall and winter. Mr. Harrison believes in always having goods to accommodate his customers and in anticipation of a good fall and winter trade expects to buy in large quantities as is the usual custom of his firm. He will be joined by Mrs. Anna Harrison in New York where she will buy the fall stock for the millinery establishment of Harrison Brothers and Company. Mrs. Harrison has been visiting her mother in Blacksburg, South Carolina.
Lots of people are asking us about the Fair and we only have time to tell them that the premium list is much longer than last year, that if they expect to get a cash premium or a ribbon they will have to prepare early and bring something. The prizes will be awarded on what you bring to the Fair and not what you have at home. The Judges can’t pass on something you say you have at home is better than the other fellow’s. Fix it up right and bring it along, September 20th-24th.
We have information from a local mill man that he has an order for lumber to erect several residences in the near future. Williamston is now getting ready to grow. Watch the onward march.
Mrs. J.S. Turner of Weldon has been visiting her parents, Capt. and Mrs. J.C. Rhem for several days.
Mrs. Oscar Anderson and son, Oscar Jr., and Miss Irma Woodhouse will leave Thursday for Willoughby Beach where they will spend some time with relatives.
